ASTM A312 is the standard specification for seamless, welded, and heavily cold-worked austenitic stainless steel pipes. The ASTM A312 specification covers nominal wall thicknesses and grades of stainless steel typically used in high-temperature and general corrosive service applications. These pipes have a high degree of strength, excellent corrosion resistance, excellent high-temperature performance, and good processability. ASTM A312 stainless steel pipe is widely used in oil and gas, petrochemical, food processing, pharmaceutical, and many other industries where pipes are exposed to high temperature and corrosive environments.

ASTM A312 SS Pipe Fabrication
1. The production process of ASTM A312 stainless steel pipe starts with the selection of high-quality raw materials. Raw materials must meet the requirements of the specification, and there must be no defects such as cracks and seams. Raw materials are then subjected to various tests to ensure their quality, including chemical analysis, mechanical testing and non-destructive testing.
2. The next step in the production process is the formation of the pipes. This process can be done by two methods: ASME SA312 seamless pipe and ASME SA312 welded pipe. Seamless pipe is formed by perforating a solid billet of stainless steel and then extruding the material through a die into its final shape. Welded pipe is formed by welding two or more pieces of stainless steel together using various welding techniques such as resistance welding, electric fusion welding, etc.
3. After the pipe is formed, various finishing processes are carried out to meet the specification requirements. These processes include heat treatment, cold working, polishing, etc. Heat treatment is used to improve the mechanical properties of the pipe, such as hardness, strength and toughness. Cold working is used to improve the dimensional accuracy of the tubing, while polishing is used to improve the surface finish.
