321 stainless steel pipe is made of austenitic stainless steel with titanium added as a stabilizer, which has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion at high temperatures. Along with significantly high strength as well as anti-fouling and phase stability make SS 321 pipe superior to other similar grades. The chemical composition of Stainless steel 321 pipe contains titanium element, which can be stable under high temperature conditions. Its main components are Carbon (C): ≤0.08, Silicon (Si): ≤1.00, Manganese (Mn): ≤2.00, Phosphorus (P): ≤0.045, Sulfur (S): ≤0.030, Vanadium (V): 5C~0.70, titanium (Ti): 5C~0.70, nickel (Ni): 9.00~13.00, chromium (Cr): 17.00~20.00. AISI 321 stainless steel pipe exhibits excellent corrosion resistance at high temperatures and can withstand high temperatures of at least 800°C. In addition, it has good mechanical properties, high heat-resistant strength and tensile resistance.

Like 304 stainless steel, ASTM A312 TP321 stainless steel pipe is a low-carbon, chromium-nickel alloy with good resistance to intergranular corrosion. 304 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance up to 1562°F (850°C). Whereas stainless steel SUS 321 pipe allows for higher temperature limitations, including long-term exposure to high temperatures up to 1652°F (900°C), due to the addition of titanium used as a stabilizer. 321 stainless steel is superior to 304 stainless steel in high temperature environments, the main advantage is that 321 stainless steel has better resistance to stress fracture. This higher resistance to stress cracking is advantageous in automotive applications where the differences in thermal expansion coefficients (heat-related expansion and contraction occurring at different rates) are greatest. 321 stainless steel tubing is commonly used between the engine and the manifold, din 1.4541 pipes stainless steel is better suited to handle such heat related stresses than 304 stainless steel.
