904L stainless steel pipe is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content, also known as 904L super stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance in dilute sulfuric acid and is specially designed for environments with harsh corrosion conditions. Stainless steel 904L pipe includes 904L stainless steel seamless pipe, 904L stainless steel welded pipe. Made from a low carbon nickel-chromium alloy with high molybdenum, chromium and nickel contents, grade 904L austenitic stainless steel is designed for moderate to high corrosion resistance. SS 904l pipe is widely used in pipelines and equipment in petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing and other fields, especially suitable for occasions with high corrosion, high temperature, high pressure and other requirements.

904L is a high-alloyed, low-carbon, unstable austenitic stainless steel grade. Cu is added to the alloy of 904L stainless steel pipe, so it has very high resistance to strong reducing acids such as sulfuric acid. The lower carbon content of 904L allows the pipe to be easily welded without the risk of localized corrosion due to reduced carbide precipitation during welding. ASTM A312 TP904L stainless steel pipe contains a large amount of nickel, which makes the pipe have excellent performance even in high temperature environments. The presence of molybdenum in Alloy 904L reduces the occurrence of crevice corrosion. AISI 904L stainless steel pipe exhibits good resistance to stress corrosion cracking in addition to being a non-magnetic alloy. N08904 pipes are primarily used in general corrosion applications in addition to medium to high temperature applications.

904L Stainless Steel Pipe Acid Corrosion Resistance
Ordinary austenitic stainless steel may be sensitive to stress corrosion in a chloride-rich environment at temperatures above 60 °C. This sensitization can be reduced by increasing the nickel content of the stainless steel. Due to the high nickel content, DIN 1.4539 stainless steel pipes have a high resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride solutions, concentrated hydroxide solutions and hydrogen sulfide-rich environments. In pure sulfuric acid within the concentration range of 0-98%, the service temperature of 904L stainless steel round pipe can be as high as 40 degrees Celsius. In pure phosphoric acid in the concentration range of 0-85%, its corrosion resistance is very good.
Stainless Steel 904L Pipe Production
904L stainless steel pipe is produced according to ASTM, ASME and API standards, these UNS N08904 pipes are often used as larger diameter pipes. There are SS ASTM A312 TP904L seamless pipe, 904L SS welded pipe, SS 904L ERW pipe. Different pipe end types are available such as plain, beveled and patterned. Mechanical tests such as transverse or longitudinal tensile tests and flattening tests are performed on 904L seamless pipe to determine whether it meets tensile properties. According to ASTM A312, all of our 904l pipes must be supplied in heat treated condition with proper heat treatment temperature and cooling or testing rationale to guarantee the pipe quality.
