Inconel 718 tube is a nickel-chromium alloy with niobium and molybdenum added. 718 tube can obtain high strength, good corrosion resistance, easy formability, and weldability through heat treatment. The material, designated N07718, is a nickel-chromium-based superalloy that can be used at temperatures up to 700°C. The N07718 material has good resistance to strain-age cracking. Available in the annealed condition, aged, cold worked or cold worked and aged. Inconel 718 seamless tubes are widely used in aerospace, gas turbine, and nuclear power applications.

Inconel 718 tube standard and supplier:
  • ASTM B163: Standard Specification for Seamless Nickel and Nickel Alloy Condenser and Heat-Exchanger Tubes

Inconel Alloy 718 Tube Properties

Inconel alloy 718 has excellent corrosion resistance making it ideal for use in environments where there may be exposure to harsh chemicals such as acids and bases. Another advantage of the Inconel 718 tube is its excellent weldability, which makes it easy to manufacture and assemble into complex parts. Inconel 718 special metals are also highly resistant to fatigue and stress corrosion cracking, thus ensuring a long service life under extreme working conditions. In aerospace, ASTM B163 Inconel 718 tube is used in the manufacture of aircraft engine parts such as turbine blades and combustors, as well as rocket engines and spacecraft. In gas turbines, it is used in components such as turbine disks, shafts, and compressor blades, where its ability to withstand high temperatures and stresses is critical for reliable performance.

Alloy 718 Hot Rolling (Hot Rolling) Process:
Hot rolling is a process in which metal is plastically deformed under high-temperature conditions.

  • Raw material preparation: The initial stage is to pre-treat the Inconel 2.4668 superalloy billet to make it suitable for hot rolling processing.
  • Heating the billet: The billet is heated to a high temperature, usually above the alloy's solution temperature, so that it becomes more plastic and can be shaped more easily during rolling.
  • Roughing: At high temperatures, the billet undergoes preliminary plastic deformation through a series of rolling mills to form a larger cross-sectional reduction. This stage helps to reduce the size of the blank for easier control in subsequent steps.
  • Intermediate Rolling: After rough rolling, 718 material passes through the middle rolling mill to further reduce the section size while improving the uniformity and mechanical properties of the metal.
  • Finishing: In this stage, the mid-rolled billet is passed through a finishing mill to obtain more precise dimensions and surface quality.
  • Cooling: The inconel tube is cooled by a cooling device to achieve the required mechanical properties.
